The Center for Teaching and Learning works with faculty and the campus community to innovate and expand teaching and learning opportunities. As new teaching technologies and techniques are introduced, we create pilot programs to collect data and feedback to explore feasibility and effectiveness before committing to campus-wide adoptions. You can find more about these opportunities below.

Google CardboardThe CTL has purchased a set of Google Cardboard VR headsets for check-out to classrooms based on availability. Google Cardboard is a VR headset made out of cardboard (or similar low-cost materials) that when paired with a compatible smartphone provides a virtual reality experience. The headset provides a stereoscopic view that when coupled with the software (apps developed for Cardboard) of the smartphone allows the user to explore and potentially manipulate a virtual environment by moving their head up and down, side-to-side, etc.
Check out the Google Cardboard VR page for more information. |
NearpodNearpod is an all-in-one presentation and assessment tool that leverages student web-based devices to engage students in interactive and engaging lessons. We are currently in the second year of the PC pilot and are excited to open this opportunity to the larger PC faculty community.
This pilot will help PC determine if Nearpod's School Edition supports student learning and meets instructional needs in courses. Additionally, we hope to gather feedback to assess demand for the service and support structures for considering a continued license at the college. Visit the Nearpod Pilot page for more information. |
VoiceThreadVoiceThread is a web-based media player that incorporates a highly engaging and interactive discussion space. Faculty and students can use VoiceThread to upload media (video, images, presentations, and documents) and then add narration, comments, questions, answers, etc. (in text, video, and audio) all around the shared content. It can be used as a simple whiteboard, for storytelling, for peer review, speeches, debate, case studies, no office-office hours, and so much more. VoiceThread is available in PC's instance of Canvas as an External Tool that can be integrated to support assignments. The CTL is currently offering VoiceThread as pilot.
Visit the VoiceThread page for more information about how you can join the pilot. |
WhiteboardsThe CTL is pleased to offer the Whiteboard Classroom Engagement Project. We have 14 whiteboard sets to assign to selected faculty participants each semester. Each whiteboard classroom sets contains:
