Assessment
Assessing Learning
Using formative assessment tools to poll, quiz or question learners, in real time or asynchronously, allows us to gather information to assess and guide our teaching or presentation to ensure that educational outcomes are being met. Additionally these tools allow us to check-in with all learners and participants, even those who do not feel comfortable speaking-up. Finally, assessment tools create an active and engaging learning environment by providing a game-like interactive experience.
The assessment tools you are probably most familiar with are “clickers” or personal response systems. Using a personal response system instructors or presenters can ask learners questions during a class or presentation and analyze the data quickly to reteach concepts or move on to new topics. Classroom assessment has become even more flexible from the tv-remote style hardware, leveraging learner devices (phones, tablets, etc.) to make assessment more spontaneous for the instructor and more comfortable for the learn

What is the purpose/value of social networks/media?
For Faculty/Employees
Digital tools facilitates more frequent and efficient feedback making it easier to address issues (comprehension, misperceptions, satisfaction, prior knowledge, opinions, etc.) and build a relationship with learners. Digital tools also make it easier to analyze the data of assessments by student, class/session or even from year-to-year making them valuable tools to guide and inform your instruction.
For Students
Digital assessment tools provide learners with frequent opportunities to assess and measure their own progress. By participating in assessment, learners can analyze the gaps in their knowledge, but also the learning process itself. Building critical thinking skills and self-agency. Assessment tools also provide learners with more feedback and connection points with the content, instructor and other learners.
