Professional Growth

Professional Growth for Faculty

The Maricopa Community Colleges support the development of residential and adjunct faculty through professional growth programs. Funding may be available for a variety of opportunities such as conferences and seminar expenses, travel expenses to conferences and workshops and tuition reimbursement. Note: It is very important to carefully read the guidelines for each program prior to making any arrangements for attending a professional growth activity.

Residential Faculty Professional Growth

The purpose of Faculty Professional Growth (FPG) is to encourage and recognize continued development and innovation in teaching and learning in the district. As part of this program residential faculty may receive funding for activities related to their service to the district. These can include conferences, travel related to conferences and educational events, sabbaticals, summer projects, education and more.

Educational and Leadership Activities non-discipline specific activities promoting education methodology and leadership to enhance faculty professional development.

​Sabbatical Leaves/Professional Leaves  offers in depth opportunities for study, research, travel, suitable work experience, or other creative ideas.

Salary Advancement
Residential faculty may also be eligible for salary advancement for participating in approved professional growth activities offered by MCCCD and external organizations.  Salary advancement offers opportunities for advancement horizontally on the salary schedule, including pathways for:
  • Academic Advancement for undergraduate and graduate coursework.
  • Non-Academic Advancement for participation in activities outside of academic coursework

Adjunct Faculty Professional Growth

Adjunct Faculty Professional Growth (AFPG) is overseen by the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI). The program offers funding in the form of reimbursement to adjunct faculty to attend conferences, seminars, workshops and professional meetings that support and update their teaching skills and support student success.

It is very important that the applicant understand the guidelines and follow the instructions for requesting for program funds to ensure the best chance of getting funded.
