The CTL has purchased a set of 30 Google Cardboard VR headsets (including head straps and headphones) for for use in the L.E.A.D. (Learning, Engagement, and Discovery) classroom or for check out to classrooms based on availability. Google Cardboard is a VR headset made out of cardboard (or similar low cost materials) that when paired with a compatible smartphone provides a virtual reality experience. The headset provides a stereoscopic view that when coupled with the software (apps developed for Cardboard) of the smartphone allows the user to explore and potential manipulate a virtual environment by moving their head up and down, side-to-side, etc.

Cardboard Apps - VR Experiences There are many, many Cardboard Apps that support a variety of VR experiences from standing in the Roman Pantheon to traveling through the human brain or watching a surgical operation. More Apps are being created everyday and students/faculty can even create some of their own VR experiences using some Apps. Apps can be available for Android, some are just for iOS and some are for both. It is important to carefully plan your lesson for all student devices. Take an inventory so you know what devices they will be bringing to class. View some of the Apps we have curated by subject/discipline, but there are many more available on the Google Play and iOS App stores.
